🌿 A dream among flowers: our family beekeeping project in Sardinia

Siamo Sara Ruiu e Philipp Scheel – logopedista lei, fisioterapista lui, genitori e innamorati della natura. Dopo molti anni vissuti a Stoccarda, dal 2011 al 2024, abbiamo scelto di tornare in Sardegna per costruire insieme una vita più semplice, autentica e in armonia con la terra che amiamo. Con nostra figlia di tre anni, stiamo dando forma a un sogno che cresce, letteralmente, tra i fiori.

We are Sara Ruiu and Philipp Scheel – she’s a speech therapist, he’s a physiotherapist, both parents and nature lovers. After many years in Stuttgart, from 2011 to 2024, we chose to return to Sardinia to build a simpler, more authentic life in harmony with the land we love. Together with our three-year-old daughter, we are shaping a dream that is growing – quite literally – among the flowers.

Tutto è iniziato con un regalo che Philipp ha fatto a Sara: un corso di apicoltura. Non immaginavamo che da quelle prime lezioni potesse nascere un legame così profondo con le api, la terra e le sue tradizioni. È stato come riscoprire qualcosa che era già dentro di noi. Il papà di Sara, forestale, le ha trasmesso fin da bambina il rispetto per il territorio e la biodiversità. Oggi questo seme ha messo radici.

It all started with a gift that Philipp gave to Sara: a beekeeping course. We never imagined those first lessons would spark such a deep bond with the bees, the land, and its traditions. It felt like rediscovering something that was already inside us. Sara’s father, a forest ranger, taught her from a young age to respect nature and biodiversity. Today, that seed has taken root.

Il nostro obiettivo a lungo termine è raccogliere 100.000 €, necessari per: / Our long-term goal is to raise €100,000, needed to:

• acquistare almeno 100 arnie / purchase at least 100 beehives

• dotarci di attrezzature professionali per smielatura, stoccaggio e confezionamento /equip ourselves with professional tools for extraction, storage, and packaging

• realizzare un laboratorio certificato / build a certified honey lab

• ottenere certificazioni biologiche e sanitarie / obtain organic and sanitary certifications

• creare spazi didattici per famiglie, scuole e turisti / create educational spaces for families, schools, and tourists.

🎯 Ma ogni grande sogno inizia da un primo passo. Con 5.000 € possiamo avviare la nostra attività familiare: prenderci cura dei primi 6 alveari nel terreno di famiglia, acquistare le attrezzature essenziali e iniziare la produzione artigianale.
